Handful of Sand Chapter 12 Page 4

Wednesday came.

As instructed, Sandy had drunk a lot of water from the drinking fountain at lunch. For good measure, she had not used the washroom then, something she had regretted later. She had suffered through the afternoon lessons with a full bladder placing demands on her.

When school was over, she quickly packed her belongings and rushed to the washroom. Somehow, despite her discomfort, she had the presence of mind to select the washroom in the top floor where there would be fewer people. She remembered at the last moment in the toilet stall to fill the balloon.

On the previous day, Sandy had used all but one of the balloons given to her by Connie to practice throwing. She had even filled them with urine. Her lust for money had given her a great determination (and silliness) to succeed.

Unfortunately, as she was filling the balloon in the washroom stall, she discovered that she had more urine than she needed. Sandy was suddenly concerned that the balloon could burst from being overfilled. It was her last balloon and she did not want to fail in her task. Controlling her bladder while carefully handling the balloon was no easy feat.

The result was gross. Some urine ended up where she did not intend it to be. She did get the balloon ready, regardless.

But even after the balloon had been prepared, Sandy could not exit the toilet stall yet. She could hear other girls outside and she did not want them to see what she had. As she waited, she cleaned her hands as best as she could with toilet paper.

Half a minute after the washroom door had closed and the voices had faded away, when she was certain that the girls were gone, Sandy finally got out of her hiding place. She washed the balloon clean at the sink - she did not want to be unhygienic. Then she hid the balloon in her empty lunch box for safekeeping.

(Yes, more grossness. Hopefully, she would remember to clean the lunch box thoroughly before filling it with food.)

Earlier in the day, Connie had told Sandy that she would arrange to meet with Annie. However, she had not known the place then, only that they would be alone somewhere. So Sandy would have to look for them. And Sandy had already spent too much time preparing her balloon. She hoped that Connie was still with Annie.

After walking around the school ground for a few minutes, Sandy finally found the girls behind the gym. From the tone of their loud voices, they must be arguing. Connie stood a few steps away from Annie so it was easier for Sandy to hit her target without getting any on the redhead.

At that moment, Annie turned and stepped to leave. Sandy's heart skipped. She had missed her chance and the little girl was heading in her direction!

As Sandy was about to turn and run, Connie called the little girl back. Sandy could only make out the word 'coward' in what the redhead had said.

Annie immediately spun back, her back stiff with anger. She pointed a finger at Connie and started speaking furiously.

Perfect, the redhead had bought Sandy another chance.

Sandy had no time for hesitation. Annie could leave again at any moment. So she quickly took the balloon out of her lunch box.

She would try to hit Annie's back, the largest target on the little girl. She weighed the balloon in her hand and took careful aim. Then she threw.

As soon the balloon left her hand, Sandy turned and hurried away. She did not see if she had hit her target. However, there was a high-pitch shriek of pain coming from the direction of the arguing girls. It was not Connie's scream, so Sandy assumed that she had hit her mark.

Still, it was time to run and cycle home.

The next morning, Sandy did not have to look for Connie. The redhead sought Sandy as the latter was locking her bicycle in the shed.

"Job well done," Connie complimented as she extended a single note of currency.

Sandy took the bill and pocketed it. "Thanks."

"It was really funny." Connie laughed. "Did you see it?"

"Umm, no, I didn't." Sandy took her schoolbag from the basket above the back wheel.

"You missed a good show then," Connie whispered, "You got her right in the face as she was turning to leave."

Sandy managed a small smile. "That's good."

"Good? It was hilarious," Connie gloated quietly, "Her scream was just delightful. Her face was dripping and she was whining about how painful and yucky it was. I had to run when she tried to wipe some on me." The redhead laughed again. "She tried to chase me, but she tripped and fell on her face. Oh, it was good."

Sandy found herself chuckling too at the little girl's misfortune. Connie's laughter was infectious. Other students in the shed glanced at them, but Connie had been speaking softly so Sandy doubted that they had heard their conversation.

But most important of all was that she had been paid!
