Handful of Sand Chapter 21 Page 2

What?" Sandy was confused.

"You're the one responsible," Annie clarified.

How did Annie find out about that?

(Well, it could have been a number of ways that did not occur to Sandy - she could have been spotted during the prank, she could have been seen with Connie, and oh, she could have admitted knowledge of what had happened to Annie, like what she had done a few sentences ago.)

"But it wasn't me," Sandy started to lie.

"It was you," Annie insisted. She reached for her pink handbag.

"But it really wasn't me," Sandy denied again.

"If it wasn't you, then we've no business," Annie said. She took out her purse and opened it. "Too bad. I was willing to pay you."

"Pay me?" Those words had Sandy's attention. "To do what?"

"To do something to the person responsible," Annie answered. She pulled out a note of currency and raised it. "To you."

Sandy's brown eyes grew. The offered note was a large amount of money, more than she had ever been paid.

Annie held the money up. "If it was you who did that to me, you can do what I want you to do now and get paid at the same time too."

There was a grand melee within Sandy's mind as several thoughts fought for attention. Very quickly, however, the thought of getting that money kicked all other concern out of the ring. Thoughts of caution, of doubt, of common sense, all were defeated, with avarice left as the champion.

"So, did you do it to me?" Annie asked.

Sandy swallowed. "Yes," she admitted.

"Good," Annie approved, "So now I have a job for you."

"Okay," Sandy agreed quietly. She pulled her eyes away from the money and met Annie's gaze. "What do you want me to do?"

"First, strip."

"What?" Sandy's doubt returned.

"Take off your clothes," Annie ordered.

"But..." Sandy looked aside.

"Don't worry, we're the only ones here," Annie said, "No one else needs to know what happens here."

"I don't know..." Sandy started rubbing her left forefinger with her right thumb.

"Remember, I'll pay." Annie waved the note in her hand slowly.

Sandy saw the money. She wanted it. Slowly, she unzipped her jacket. A little later, her beanie, jacket, shirt and shorts were on the floor and the nearby table. She was hugging herself for warmth as the room was cold.

"Those too," Annie indicated Sandy's footwear.

Sandy obeyed and removed her yellow sneakers and socks. She felt the freezing bite of the floor on her feet.

"And those." Annie pointed at Sandy's underwear.

"What?" Sandy exclaimed.

"It's just the two of us here."

"But..."

Annie sighed. She started to put her money back in her purse. "If you're not interested..."

Sandy immediately removed the last of her clothes. She told herself not to worry about her nudity. The only other person there was a girl. She had been seen naked before by other girls in the locker room whenever she had showered after gym. Her present situation was not anything to be concerned about, not when there was money she could gain.

"Now dance," Annie instructed.

Sandy obeyed.

Annie made her do a few other things, acts that the brown-haired girl would not want anyone else to see. Sandy kept thinking about the money, to keep her mind off what she was doing and to forget about the cold.

As Sandy performed, a smile grew on Annie's face. The little girl actually laughed. Annie turned aside to get her laughter under control.

That brief moment allowed Sandy some time to rub some warmth into her limbs. "How much longer will this go on?" she complained, "I'm cold."
