Buddy Rush: First Look At The Third Wave

Buddy Rush Update 1.2 (a.k.a. The Third Wave) arrived on 6 May 2011. It has a lot of updates, bug fixes, character balance... and a few bugs (nothing serious).

First, there is a new playable character that everyone has been looking forward to.
New Character!
I would probably make a new character later, once I have time (maybe in a week or four). And it would likely be Skully since I would like another range character and another female character and she fits both requirements.

There is also a new chapter, Kanbucay. The fun takes place at the beach with a Caribbean-pirate theme (like the background music). Kanbucay has 12 missions instead of the usual 8. That would mean 24 more skill points!
New Chapter!
Along with the extra skill points is a level cap increase, now at 72.

As seen in the screenshot, Bearnardo is back, showing his back as he runs (as usual). And he has learned a new skill this time, probably from spying on Botherella. Also in the screenshot - notice the white number above the middle Oblin? That is the Damage Meter.

Damage Meter is a nice little addition that reports the HP damage done to the opponent and damage received. It also reports HP healed. It only reports for the main character, though.
Raid Mode!
To turn on the Damage Meter, go to the Options screen. The Options are acessible from the gear button at the bottom left of the screen while in town.

In the screenshot is the entrance to the new Raid Mode. Allegedly, it puts the player's characters (plural!) against tough enemies. It looks like buddies can be brought along, but I have yet to try it out. The minimum level requirement is Level 65 so it shall be some time before I can try.

Dungeon Mode appears to be missing. Wizzstar, the Dungeon Mode NPC is in the Buddy selection screen, probably to join in the fun (he has been there since Update 1.1). Rumor has it that the dungeon is being fixed at the moment.

Also new is the Daily Visitation Bonus, which gives potions each day. It looks like there will be a Golden Potion on the fifth day. If this is true, it will be nice to have a free source of that potion.

The number of gifts that the player may send in a day has been increase to 7, so players can 'export' extra potions. :)
Really Big Potion!
And there are new larger potions (with very high level requirements). Players familiar with the game should be able to get the joke in the screenshot about the taste of Composite Potions. :)

There are changes to the characters, especially their skills. Nagne is now even more cool. Betty Jr's skills are easier to use. Boorseye has been rebalanced and I need to look again at my Botherella's Curse build. The articles I have written so far on Nagne's and Betty Jr's skills are likely obsolete. I shall have to write new ones later.

In addition to that, there are now dual-wielding characters. Aikilu and Flow now attack twice with each regular attack. Same with the new girl Skully.

Oh, and there are more descriptions for the skills at the skill trainer NPC. I finally know what Botherella's Charity skill does!
Mystery of the Unexplained Skill, Solved.
That's a quick look at The Third Wave. It is a lot to take in and write about. I shall write more as I play.

Somehow, I get the feeling I am forgetting something... Ah, well, I shall just play the game. Maybe I will remember what it is as I play.
